In
April 1997 Mick began with his education in Shaolin Kung Fu
at the Chuan Fa Hung Choy Pai school. He started in a kids group.
After several years he promoted to the adult group.
An advantage of this change was that his training time doubled.
Moreover, the training became a lot heavier. Determined he continued
his training. This effort paid off well: several times he won
prizes in style matches, |
both
on national and international level.
Through intensive training he obtained the 5th Tuan and he was
able to train in the advanced group. It was here he met his
present training partner and youth trainer Ralph.
Both had a goal and in May 2004 they achieved the degree of
the black belt. He realised that, as for time, he was half way
through his education.

After
5 years of playing soccer, Ralph wanted to do something else.
Through his sister, who at that time was a member of the Chuan
Fa Hung Choy Pai school, he was interested in eastern martial
art.
This art appealed to him very much and so he decided to devote
himself to Shaolin Kung Fu in 1998. The implementation of the
sport makes it very special. Not only the exact execution of the
several moves is emphasized, |
|
|
also
the intention to train to extremes is very important.
Also
the spirit behind the sport, respect for each other and discipline,
gives Kung Fu a clear surplus value.
After a couple years of heavy and intensive training he achieved
the degree of black belt in May 2004, together with his training
partner Mick.
Nevertheless, this is not the end of his education. There are
three higher degrees that he wants to obtain as well.

From
now on not only physical strength (Chinese: Hei Lek) plays a part,
but also inner strength (Chinese: Gin Lek). To meet with these high
requirements, Mick and Ralph are being taught personally and intensively
in the arts of Hung Gar and Choy Lee Fut Kung Fu by head trainer Holger
Willems.
These trainings have enabled them to found a kids group within the
Chuan Fa Hung Choy Pai. In March 2005 they started the initiative
and it has been successful ever since.
